There’s just something so special about capturing the beauty of motherhood outdoors—with the warm golden light, a gentle breeze, and the stunning natural backdrops that surround us here in the Charlotte and Belmont area. Outdoor maternity sessions are some of my absolute favorites, and if you’re expecting, this is an experience you don’t want to miss!

✨ When’s the Best Time to Book?

I always recommend scheduling your maternity session between 28 to 34 weeks. At this stage, you’ve got that beautiful baby bump, you’re still fairly comfortable moving around, and your glow is undeniable! Booking early is key to making sure you get a spot during that perfect window (and during the prettiest time of day, too—more on that below!).

🌅 Why Golden Hour is the Sweet Spot

If you’ve ever seen that dreamy, golden light in photos—soft, warm, and oh-so-flattering—that’s the magic of golden hour. It’s the hour just after sunrise or the hour just before sunset, and it makes everything look magical. The way the sun hugs your bump and creates that natural glow? Trust me, it’s worth the wait.

Most of my outdoor maternity sessions are scheduled in the early evening for this very reason. You’ll feel relaxed, the light is incredible, and it adds a romantic, timeless feel to your images.

    •    McDowell Nature Preserve for something more woodsy and natural
    •    Or even just a golden field on the side of the road (seriously, those spots are magic!)
